Hi, I'm Arun Nalla

Over the past decade I’ve designed backend systems powering payments, search, optimization engines, and AI applications, with an emphasis on reliability, scale, and resilience.

I enjoy building products from scratch and tackling complex engineering challenges, from backend infrastructure to end-to-end product experiences.

I believe good software is simple to understand, reliable in production, and easy to evolve. I value collaborating with people who care about thoughtful products, clean code, and solving difficult problems together.

I am currently working at Notion ↗ where I build enterprise search and AI agents. I'm based in Hyderabad, India (GMT+5:30) ↗.

Outside of work, I enjoy slower, hands-on hobbies. Sometimes that's building something with electronics, sometimes it's a DIY project, and other times it's aquascaping or gardening. I've also developed an interest in design — architecture, industrial design, and how thoughtful design shapes the things we use every day. I also follow sports and rarely miss a good game.
